THE 4:30 P.M. STAFF MEETING IS AT 471 S. DREXEL.

Two staff meetings for Bexley Public Radio volunteers are scheduled for Tuesday March 8, 2011.

Both staff meetings will have the same agenda.

Two meetings are presented for the convenience of volunteer schedules.

The estimated length of each meeting is forty-five minutes.

The first meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. The location for the first meeting is 2700 E. Main St., Suite 208, Columbus, OH.

The second meeting begins at 5:45 p.m. The location for the second meeting is 471 S. Drexel Ave., Columbus, OH.

Volunteers should RSVP whether they will attend the 4:30 p.m. or 5:45 p.m. meeting. RSVP to wcrxlp@yahoo.com or voice mail to (614) 235-2929 no later than Friday March 4, 2011.

Black History Month at Bexley Public Radio

February is Black History Month. At Bexley Public Radio, the artwork of African-American artists will be featured and discussed.

Swann Galleries in New York continues its February tradition of having a major auction of works by African-American artists. This sale and its catalogue will guide the month-long discussion of prominent black artists on WCRX-LP, 102.1 FM.

This is the third year for coverage of this auction sale by Bexley Public Radio.

This year the auction catalogue has works from artists such as painters Edward M. Bannister and John Wilson, and sculptors Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller and Elizabeth Catlett. The catalog also features multiple works by Romare Bearden an influential 20th century artist. This year is Bearden's centennial.

The auction is scheduled for Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Swann Galleries 104 East 25th Street, New York City location.

Throughout the month, some Bexley Public Radio program hosts will discuss the art work by reference to the Swann Galleries catalogue. A digital version of the catalogue is available to listeners at http://catalogue.swanngalleries.com so listeners can conveniently follow the discussion.

Prior to the auction, pre-sale estimates of hammer prices will be discussed. After the sale is completed actual hammer prices will be discussed in the context of the current market for the work of African American artists.

Bexley collectors, and collectors from other parts of central Ohio, are invited to be guests on the station to discuss their collections and the market for the artwork of black artists.
